The United States has proposed Biman Bangladesh Airlines to evacuate people, including Afghan citizens who had worked for the American troops, from Afghanistan.
The national airline is yet to decide on this matter as they are still in discussions about the situation in Afghanistan and the facilities available at Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul. Biman will also have to discuss this with lessors and insurance companies whether Biman will be covered if they decide to operate these flights.
This will not be the first time Biman will undertake these kind of flights as the airline has experience operating evacuation flights from war torn countries before, especially during the Iran-Iraq war in the 80’s.
